Thinking about the future?

Are you thinking about the future?

What does it look like? Do you see success, failure or the same old thing?

One of the things that we hear all the time, but don't really apply, is your now was determined by what you saw, believed and dwelt on in the past. We hear all the time that our future is determined by what you see (in your imagination), believe and continually dwell on now. So let me ask you again, "Are you thinking about the future?" and "What does it look like?"

If you ever have watched the movie, "The Secret", there is a statement made that goes something like this: "Too many times people try this focusing on what they want and start making progress, but when things don't happen as fast as they want, they say that this stuff doesn't really work, so they quit. They start to see the results of what they set out to achieve but give up just short of the full manifestation." Of course, I am paraphrasing it, but that is the just of it. I agree with many of the things discussed in "The Secret", with one exception. I believe that the power to change your life comes from the total belief that GOD has control and that you were meant for greater things.

That is just the focusing part of it, though. Let me say that if you want to change your life for the better, YOU MUST start seeing yourself where you want to be. It isn't easy. It takes a lot of work, especially during the days where it seems that the bottom is falling out! You will see results if you keep your focus, but don't expect EVERYTHING to change overnight. That is the biggest problem people have, especially here in America. We want everything now, not tomorrow or the next day, but RIGHT NOW.

Think of it this way. You have an acre of land and you plant grass seed throughout. You water it daily until it starts to grow. That's all you do to it. Now you let nature take its course. What happens? Weeds start to take root, dandelions sprout up, but you do nothing to care for the grass. Soon the weeds get bigger, spread throughout the grass, more types of unwanted plants start to take root and choke out the grass. After some time, you have an acre of land full of unwanted weeds, plants, critters and such, but you do have some patches of grass too. Now it took some time for your land to turn into this, and now, for you to get control of it again, you are going to have to start pulling the weeds, plants you don't want and getting rid of all the insects that are bad for your grass. How long do you think that this will take to do? Assume that you have to do it all by yourself, and all by hand? How long? A little longer than a day or two right?

Over time you finally get rid of what you don't want, so now you have to care for what you do want, the grass. So you will now use fertilizer with weed killer. You will water it daily and continue to fertilize on a regular basis. You will also go through the entire area looking for things that are harmful to your grass and you get rid of that problem right away! Finally, after taking care of your grass, watering it, fertilizing it, inspecting for problems and continual care (mowing it regularly), you now have an acre of PLUSH lawn.

The same goes for your mind, for your future. GOD has given us an incredible mind, and has meant for us to use it. The problem is, most people allow junk into their minds and don't feed their minds with things that will help them achieve what they want! By not controling what goes into your mind, your mind is controlled by what it is fed. You MUST continue to give your mind the positive fertilizer it needs, and you MUST weed out the stuff that you don't want and that your mind doesn't need. I challenge you to just be more aware of what you allow into your mind, and to monitor what "pops" into your mind. I think that you will be surprised.

Change the way you think. Like I said it isn't easy. If it were, then EVERYONE would be doing this. Give it time, and remember the old saying, "It is always darkest before the dawn". So when things absolutely seem like they are the worst that they can get, you are probably very close to achieving something GREAT! Keep working at it and see if you get results. BE persistent.

Believing that you have what it takes.

For those of you who have read my profile or know much about me, you would know that in the corporate world I was pretty successful. Believing that I could be successful in any position, any company, and any industry that I was in, all I needed to do was learn more about what I was involved in. I have been someone in charge of people for years, but making the switch from corporate America to network marketing was somewhat tougher than I thought.

Why? If I could be successful in "making someone else richer", why was it so tough to learn how to apply that and make myself rich in my own MLM business? It took me some time, as you might know about me, I pretty much sat on the sideline for the first 18 months that I was in Synergy Worldwide. For some reason, I just couldn't grasp how to become successful in MLM. I started reading that only 2% ever REALLY make it in network marketing, and boy was that discouraging. Yet, I knew that there had to be a way to become successful, and it all starts with me. I had to change. Change from being a "boss/employee" mentality to being a "servant/teacher" mentality.

Well how could I be a teacher if I didn't really know anything? How could I be a servant when all I knew was how to be a boss? Don't get me wrong, I am not a look at the bottom line only kind of boss, I led and taught what I knew to get managers and asst. managers to higher levels, but I couldn't see how to get that switched over to network marketing. It's surprising to me that my sponsor took the time to help me see the whole picture. How he must have been frustrated with me just sitting there, waiting for SOMETHING, anything to happen.

It was then that I decided to find out what it takes to market my opportunity on line. That was a key first step, because the stuff I now know compared to 2 years ago.......let's just say that I understand things a lot better. Well I spent TIME learning strategies to get free traffic/leads and paid traffic/leads. I made the mistake of paying for leads ONE TIME, believe me, I will never do that again. So now I had this knowledge on how to generate traffic, get targeted traffic and leads to my website, and so now I have something that I can teach. I soon started sharing my success and techniques with other members of my "up line" and "sideline" and my down line. "Well why would you share it with your up line and sideline instead of just your down line, Tim?" you may ask. I learned not only traffic generation strategies, but I also learned that giving, NOT SELLING, the knowledge that took me so long to get, is what was going to propel my business to new heights.

Having a servants heart, teaching others, coaching others, helping others, it is the same as what the bible teaches, and that is what I do now. I have gone to different cities and given workshops on how to generate traffic, and I am SO pleased when someone e-mails me and thanks me and tells me that they are now having success using the techniques that I taught them. That alone is worth more to me than money. You know the interesting part? It is stuff that probably most of you know, stuff that anyone can learn, but most people either don't have the time or are just plain scared. I probably use most of the same techniques many of you use, but once it is taught in a step by step process, people are amazed and SO THANKFUL.
I am thankful for that one day, the day that I made a decision AND TOOK ACTION to learn and apply. You want to grow your business, do the same thing. Make a decision, take action, apply it and teach it SELFLESSLY. You will be amazed with the results.
